Troy SRAI-DLT-CXBT-00 Review

I purchased the Troy Battlerail Delta for my Sig M400 Carbine because I no longer like Quad Rails (digs into hands, I don't use all of the rails and it's quite bulky with the rail covers, etc.).

I chose this product primarily because I did not want to remove the Delta Ring/Barrel Nut Assembly and Gas Block (i'm not a gunsmith and I want to keep the Sig fairly original) but wanted a monolithic top rail to fit my flat-top receiver to maximize opportunities to mount sights and optics. I also wanted a smooth, round hand-guard that didn't dig into my hands but something that could accommodate additional rails should I require them and this product fit the bill.

This product extends the hand-guard a couple of inches in front of the Gas Block, which is nice but in my case, it complicated the installation on my Sig M400 because my Gas Block is almost exactly the same width as the slot milled in the hand guard. As a result, I had to use a rubber mallet to tap the lower hand guard into place and I expect removal of this component (should I ever need to) could also be a bit of a challenge (A2 style or low profile Gas Block shouldn't have this issue). Installation in my case also required removal of the Sling Attachment (per the instructions) which was pretty straigh forward to remove using a punch (I bought one at Lowes for less than $5).

The Troy Battlerail Delta doesn't move or rattle once installed and the rail alignment with my Sig M400 is spot on. The additional length this hand guard provides will maximize the distance between my sights while providing a monolithic top rail for optimal placement of optics. As an added bonus, the lower hand guard assembly incorporates a small rail section immediately beneath the Gas Block for a grip, bipod, etc. which should ensure a solid base to work from.

Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and expect to get a long service life from this product from Troy.
