For several years we have used an electronic safe to store a handgun for home defense. I always had the disadvantages of electronic safes in the back of my mind; but continued to use it until the point was driven home by the latch motor malfunctioning unexpectedly.

Since I had to get a new safe anyway, I decided to try out the V-Line Hide-Away; and I have been impressed by it so far. Here are the things I like about it:
1) It is easier and quicker to open than our previous GunVault safe. My wife and I both can get this open in probably 1/3-1/2 the time that it took to open the GunVault GV2000.
2) There is no delay or irritating beep if you mess up the combo - I like that I can just start over immediately and try again.
3) Our main reason for needing this safe is to keep firearms away from the kids, and this Hide-Away safe has a solid build and is easily mountable to do just that.
4) The quality of this safe is top notch - it just seems like a solid, well built piece of hardware.

The main downside to this safe, for me, is the slide-out drawer. It seems like it would actually be a bit easier to just have a wider opening where I could reach in and grab what I want without sliding out the drawer; but that's just my opinion. I also added a rubber drawer stop tab to the front of the drawer so the latch mechanism won't scratch the finish and it will close more quietly when the drawer isn't completely pushed in.

I would also say that cost is a downside, but it's hard to complain when comparing the quality of this side-by-side against the GunVault safes (especially the newer ones).

Overall, I highly recommend this handgun safe if you are looking for an option that is secure, easy to access, and doesn't rely on electronics.

Eureka! Mountain Pass 3 XT - Tent (sleeps 3) Review

I like the look and color combo of this tent, it is symmetrical, and all the seams of the fly, and the floor of the tent were seam tapped but I took the suggestions of more experienced campers and seam sealed the fly and floor. The tent is well constructed....the floor has a 5000mm coating, fly has a 2000mm coating which will help with the durability and rain proofing, aluminum poles seem high quality when in hand....the tent can be easily put together in under 5min by yourself which comes in handy when its about to pour. Materials seem high grade, well put together, & design makes sense. The dual vestibules are spacious and provide plenty of space for extra gear and vent from the bottom + you can tie a side back to ventilate as well, doors are dual zippered and can be closed or become a screen door for better ventilation....a lot of the other tents I looked at didn't have this option and were either all screen or no screen or just door...this design is great for summer or cold weather use and you can adjust according to your liking, options are good.

Took this tent out for the first time a few weeks ago, in short I got to the campsite and the sky turned dark. I didn't realize that the campsite didn't drain very well and setup the tent in what became a pond/mud hole...bath tub floor worked and no leaks anywhere inside. So during my trip it rained most of the time and all my gear stayed dry and there were no leaks or drips. When staked out with just the metal stakes the tent seems strong, with the addition of the included guy lines attached will no doubt hold up to some bad weather/wind/ rain/snow....don't know about blizzard conditions/ect...so in those conditions I may consider the !Tundraline, !K-2, MSR, or NF-VE 25/35.

I would suggest getting some better stakes as the ones included bend easily (I bent one pretty bad hammering it in a hurry due to rain), a tarp to protect the floor, and to seam seal the floor seams and fly. This tent would be tight for 3 people, I had a themarest large in there with all my gear and it was comfortable, for 2 people side by side with gear it would be good fit but 3 people with gear it would be real close-eureka timberline 4xt has many of the similar features and maybe a better fit for 3 people. As far a weight its about 8-8.5 lbs. split between 2 hikers it would be do-able depending on weight preferences.

Overall this is a good well constructed outdoor shelter for the price and I hope to get alot of years of camping fun from this tent. I look forward to taking this tent to the mountains and beach. When I clock some more adventures with this tent I will try to review again to see if it holds up well long-term.

I decided to buy a new one because it wasn't worth me restringing my old faithful. I bought the Attack Lite and all i can say is this racquet is amazing. It's light and powerful. I feel i have the ability to place the ball anywhere i want. Maneuvering the EXO3 Attack Lite is a cinch. Not only is it a great racquet, but it is a beautiful looking racquet as well. The only thing i did was change the grip to the "black vision II grip" which is a rubber semi tacky grip. I am very pleased with the performance of the Attack Lite.

AB Biller 36in Special Speargun - Padauk for Scuba Diving and Spearfishing Review

Dixie Divers shipped the spear gun in a cardboard box with little to no protection. The tip had pierced the box and was chipped and bent. I spoke with Steve at Dixie Divers and he seemed willing to address the issue. Requested that I return the spear for review. I requested reimbursement for the shipping with no reply, never received reimbursement for the shipping. This increased the cost by $12.50, making the cost greater than going to my local dive shop where I could see the product and get a new condition spear gun. To my surprise I received the same spear and tip. Steve insisted that they replaced the tip even though the tip still wobbles around the center of the spear. Since the intention of a spear gun is to be used underwater the wobble will influence the flight of the spear. I saw no wobble on the tip of the spear gun, same make and model, at my local dive shop. Steve stood by the statement that the tip was within specifications and would kill a fish, so can a bent hand held spear do the job but that is was not the product I purchased. Steve requested that I contact him by phone, which he never appears to be in the shop. Very disappointed with the condition of a new spear gun, additional costs without consideration for reimbursement and very poor customer service. I would advise that people avoid this seller and if you choose to use them beware of the condition in which you will receive your product.

Columbia Women's Power Down Jacket, Black, Medium Review

Lightweight and great pattern. It's not bulky, but keeps me warm. Comes with small pouch, the jacket fits in it so it's great for storage/travel.

I ordered medium and fits me well (I also have a powerfly vest in medium). I am 5'6'' 140 lb right now and can use hoodie underneath. The length of the sleeves is great, not to short, not too long. I like the fit because it's not loose on my hips as on the model, also the back of the arms are not as huge. It's better not to go a size bigger. Jacket also looks great unzipped.

I ordered black, can not go wrong with this color and will be always good. I can wear this coat with sweats to the gym and jeans and always looks good. My only wish is a hoodie, detachable on the inside would be just perfect for rainy/snowy days.

I can see that right now only Amazon has a great price and different sizes, so get it while you can!

Columbia Men's Bugaboot Plus Electric Camo Hunting Boot,Cordovan/Camo,12 M US Review

After buying these I put them on in a tub with 4" of water. After only a couple minutes there was water pouring into the right boot. The left boot also let in water but not enough to pour out once I took them off (unlike the right boot). Amazon is super awesome about returns so I am going to try another pair. If the 2nd pair do not work than I will give up. The back of these boots are even stamped 'waterproof'. I sure hope that is true with the 2nd pair. Stay tuned for a follow up.

Update: I received the replacement pair and performed the same test (albeit with only 3 inches of water in the tub). Both boots stayed dry. Not a drop got inside. Glad I returned the first and tried again. Upgraded from 2 to 4 star as I still need to comfort test these over time and hope they continue to stay dry.
