Product Description
Warm, compressible and incredibly lightweight, the Aria Jacket is built to keep you comfortably insulated when the temperature drops, then stuff away into a corner of your pack when not needed. The jacket’s high quality 650+ down fill insulation keeps you cozy during cross-country rambles or while slaving over a camp stove, yet stows neatly for uphill slogs. For multi-day treks, it packs down so small you'll have a hard time not finding space to bring it along.Outdoor Research Women's Aria Jacket (Black, Small) Review
I have been looking just about everywhere for a while for a good down jacket and I found this. I go camping and rock climbing outdoors and needed something that could keep me warm but wouldn't be a hassle to bring. This is perfect! It comes with a stuff sack and if you use it... it compresses to the size of a football! The sizing itself on me was decent. I usually get a small and I got a little worried coz I read it could run a little big. It's a little loose on me, but that's perfect for me coz I need to movement without worrying Im going to rip the jacket. Also, it gives enough room to layer a little underneath.
I haven't used this jacket in the elements yet, but the second I put it on, I felt uberly warm. And coming inside, out of the wind and the rain, it felt great..
I ordered the Plum shade and wow, I love it. The pictures they have on the model don't really show how nice the color really looks, look at the last picture of just the jacket and its pretty close. It's beautifully dark but still a little bold... perfect balance.
Not sure if the description mentioned this, but this jacket has two 'outside' zippered pockets, nice and warm. On the inside of the jacket, the 'outside' zippered pockets are sewn in so I suppose you could keep stuff there too. But theres also an actual mini pocket inside the jacket, also zippered.. I think it's for an mp3 player coz theres a stitched hole in it (for headphones?). The waist has a drawstring so you could keep the cold out. Also, this worried me a little when I was thinking about buying this: I noticed the sleeves are sewn tight to keep the cold going up your arm, but in my experience, those could be too tight around the wrists and can get irritating. This doesnt look like a problem with this jacket, it's not too tight around the wrists at all, so no irritating wrap of the wrist and no chaffing.
It doesnt say if its waterproof though, which Im curious about since I snowboard as well.. but wearing a shell over it is definitely an option since this jacket is slim and not too puffy like other down jackets.
I most definitely recommend! and for the price, it's a steal!
