I really needed a pair of sunglasses that were light enough to wear for hours at a time and that didn't pinch the area between my eyes, leave little red marks on my nose/cheeks, or squeeze my head too tightly. These seemed to do the trick when I tried them on, but, at over $400 at the time & by how fragile they seemed (so flexible and light), I was really afraid that I'd break them within the first couple of weeks. That was over 18 months ago. I wear them everyday, for hours each day.

Pros:
1. Comfort - We were working and living in a beach condo that barely had any walls - just tons and tons of windows. I found myself wearing these glasses indoors, rather than squint all day. I was honestly wearing them for over 10 hours per day, and I'd forget that I even had them on unless I passed by a mirror.
2. Color differentiation and HD effect - Without these sunglasses and with other sunglasses, the ocean always looked like one massive expanse of medium blue with maybe a few spots that were a tad lighter. However, with these Maui Jims, I could definitely see the different bands of blue in the ocean. I could even see details of reefs where the water only appears darker when I don't have these on. Once, when I took a submarine ride in Cairns (it was relatively dark in the sub and the water was murky), I was pointing out sea turtles and all kinds of fish & the guide & other passengers were only seeing as shadows in the murky water. I passed my glasses to the guide, and she was horrified that she had missed so much detail and swore she was going out to buy Maui Jims as soon as her shift was over.
3. Fit - I'm rather petite and my husband is a foot taller than me. Our head sizes differ accordingly. Each of us can wear this pair (probably due to how flexible it is and how it shapes to your head) without worrying about them falling off or slipping during strenuous activity.

Now that the price has come down significantly, I'm going to order another pair, just in case they are discontinued by the time I lose my first pair!
