My husband has been wearing boots for as long as I've known him. Every one of his jobs, from the minitary, to being a welder to now being in law enforcement, he has always needed to wear boots. He is also always been a very avid hunter. We live in northern Minnesota, so here you can hunt everything from grouse to deer. From waterfowl to bear. There's never a time of year here where some kind of hunting season is not in full swing. So not only has he always had all kinds of work boots, but also all kinds of hunting and casual boots.

A few weeks ago he realized that he was unable to find the boots he wore last fall/winter, and needed to buy a new pair. We looked into some of the other lines of Irish Setter boots, but saw that some of them had comments/complaints on other sites about the tread being very slick on any kind of wet surface. People saying that even walking on wet concrete would cause them to slip like they were walking on ice. So we ordered these instead.

At first when he tried them on, he said they were the best fit he's ever had, but wasn't sure what he thought of the boots style. He's always had more rounded boots, like you see in the steel toe design. These are a slightly more dressy boot. Dressy might not even be the right word, since you're not exactly going to pair these with a suite. They just don't have that work boot look to them. And when you are use to that rounded work boot style, these may seem a little different at first.

However all it took was one day out walking the trails looking for grouse for my husband to come home and announce that these were his all time favorite boots. They have just the right amount of cushion, but also being non-insulated, his feet don't overheat. Normally after a day of walking he comes home with a sore back. He commented that the boots even prevented him from getting back pain. He's hooked and every time he puts these on, he goes on and on about how much he likes them.

He's a solid size 12 in pretty much every brand, and the sizing for these was spot on. The size 12 fit him like a glove. They color and style of these boots make them nice enough that wearing them with a pair of jeans and a button up shirt is more than suitable for going out to dinner. Then throw them on with your camo and blaze orange and they are a perfect match for walking the trails. They are well worth every penny.
