I bought the Sayan II Low GTX Hiking Shoe for my wife and myself. The shoes fit perfect right out of the box for both of us. My wife is hard to fit because of her large bunions (ssshhhh). A reviewer commented on the shoe being "heavier than expected", and they might be a little heavier than some of the other brands, because those have a less dense rubber sole construction. The comparable Lowa shoe might be a little lighter, but I have heard reviewers complaining about poor sole wear. The ECCO sole is a dense rubber similar to what you would find on a backpacking boot and will give good grip and last a long time. The Keens and Merrell shoe/boots we have owned only lasted 2 years max before significant sole wear or sole delamination (unacceptable for expensive shoes). Also, another reviewer commented on the laces being too short. The shoes came laced in the boxes, and we found them to be the perfect length, allowing for a double bow knot. So far, these ECCOs feel great, have great grip, and have extremely high build quality, have many "durability" features, and look great. I will update this review later, as we put some miles on them.
