Purchased this reel yesterday (STT20H) along with a Daiwa Saltiga 13.3', three piece, ballistic surf pole - wanted a good rig for Red Drum fishing with the full moon. Had it set up with 17 lbs. test, with a 60 lbs. leader - throwing 7 ounce lead, single hook rig with a generous piece of bunker bait. Went out to Cape Hatteras Point this morning and put this baby to work. Excellent Reel !!! If I had to do it all over again, I would purchase this exact same setup - no regrets - I love the reel. The 6.1:1 ratio is faster than I thought. Throwing 80 yards easily into a stiff head wind. Without the strong headwind, I could probably double that cast. The reel performed flawlessly. On my second cast, I hooked a 5 foot bull shark. Drag worked perfectly, reel worked delightfully - in fact making this catch far more pleasurable. Aside from a sore lower back from the fight, everything was perfect. I'm no expert when it comes to gear comparison, what I will tell you is that this product worked so well for me that I decided to log in and write this review.
