Product Description
When the walleye are biting, you'd better be on the spot. All the well-positioned casts in the world don't mead a thing if you can't stay on the fish. That's why every facet of the Traxxis was engineered to keep you in the game, no matter where the game takes you. It's the ultimate in transom-mount trolling performance. Traxxis' remarkably simple, one-hand stow mechanism gets the motor in and out of the water in no time. Just pull up and forward to stow. When it's time to fish, use the easy-access thumb release to deploy Traxxis into any one of ten different positions. The innovative collar above the Traxxis mount allows you to adjust steering tension to your desired level. You can keep it loose for effortless steering or tighten it down to keep Traxxis in place, allowing for true vertical stowing. Traxxis ergonomically contoured Tilt/Extend Tiller handle can both tilt(up to 45 degrees) and extend (up to 6-Inch) to fit any style of fishing, and it tilts downward for easy storage. A convenient digital battery indicator is located right on the motor head.MinnKota Traxxis 45 Transom Mount Trolling Motor (45lbs Thrust, 36" Shaft) Review
The Traxxis digital 45 is a quality trolling motor with some drawbacks. The digital maximizer works great (conserves battery life by about 30% for me) but it also makes for an electrically sensitive unit. You absolutely _must_ isolate this motor from the rest of your electric circuits and use an appropriate waterproof breaker or bad things will happen. The one-hand tilt works well (though not effortlessly) and the adjustment (depth and tension) are easy to set. My biggest issue with this motor is the pitifully weak performance in reverse. The forward thrust is very good, but due to the small prop and presumably some design choices Minn Kota made, reverse thrust is minimal. It is also not possible to turn the motor around 180 degrees and power the boat backwards using 'forward' thrust. This is fine for those who use the motor exclusively for trolling in forward. I also use the motor for holding position in wind and current. This unit is inferior to earlier models in this way. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "MinnKota Traxxis 45 Transom Mount Trolling Motor (45lbs Thrust, 36" Shaft)" are high quality item.
