Easton YB11X1 XL1 Composite -10 Youth Baseball Bat (28/18) Review

On the Internet, there seems to be a lot of hype about what happens when you get a hot bat in your kid's hands. And this bat definitely has a lot of hype around it.

I wouldn't say you should believe the hype, but I would tell you to check out this bat. Two basic reasons:

1. It's a -10, and while a lot of kids chase the lightest bat possible, some kids feel better with a slightly heavier or end-loaded bat. My son is not a stereotypical big dude, but he's liked -11's more than -12's or -13's ... and this -10 is perfect.

2. The barrel really is outrageously big. It's stupid big.

3. The material lives up to the marketing of the bat -- it creates pop.

My son used the bat in a game the day he got it. Easton claims no break-in is required. It seems like in the month since he's had it he's hitting the ball a good 20 feet further. That's a combo of having the right weight, enthusiasm/practice, and definitely the materials creating more pop. And yeah, today he hit a ball over the fence for the first time.

I bought mine from a seller here on Amazon (not sure if I can mention the name? Purely Outstanding Sports). It was deeply discounted and perfect, alleviating any of that lingering expensive-bat guilt I might have otherwise had to work off.

Have fun!
