I just recieved my Lightning HT 2 for Christmas and just like any good outdoorsman I set it up immediately in the living room for the whole family to witness. I've been a backcountry guide for 7 years now and I've always prefered tarps but now I'm married and the bride wanted something a little less buggy with full coverage. These are my "just out of the box" impressions. This tent is light, hovering around the 4lb mark it seems hard to complain about the material weight and poles. And speaking of the poles, they do not intersect, instead they make an H design that allows the sidewalls of the tent to stand at a much higher angle and gives you more area inside. This design seems great for space but is also less sturdy in a strong wind (i'm not certain how i feel about the pole design, staking out the rain fly or guy lines will be crucial in foul weather). I am 6'1", 180 lbs and with the rain fly on, it isnt as easy as it should be to crawl in and out of the tent doors. They seem very undersized, maybe if I was camping near Hobbiton in the Shire it would seem more fitting. I wish tents would come with footprints now-a-days, instead they charge you an extra 35$ plus shipping to get you something they should have already included. The design doesnt allow for you to properly pitch the footprint and rainfly together without the tent body. As a "Ultralight Backpacking Tent" this product should be chaulk full of ways to save weight, including shedding the body of the tent to go with just the "essentials". I'll be happy to update my review once I spend a few weeks in it on the AT (got a trip planned for April). God speed on happy trails.
