Costa Del Mar HOWLER (Shiny Black, Grey 580 ) Review

I've owned 5 pairs of Costas over the past 8 years, so I consider myself a very loyal customer. Over this time, I've used the glasses almost everyday for driving, fishing, baseball, etc. They have always performed very well for me. Over the years, I've returned 3 pairs for various defects. 2 of the 3 times, they were repaired and returned to me in a prompt manner under warranty. The first repair was for a broken nosepiece on a pair of Ballasts. The second was for defective non-skid material on a pair of Fathoms. The third was for a broken layer within the right lens of a pair of howlers. This is not considered a warranty repair and Costa wants $79 (plus the $11.95 that I've already paid in shipping) to repair. Somehow the colored layer of the lens broke without the outer layers being damaged, but this isn't considered a latent defect. Costa "service" is basically someone with a bad attitude asking if you want to repair or return, with no discussion on the actual assesment of the damage. I'll probably end up having to have these repaired so they won't be a total loss, but the next time I'm in the market for a new pair of glasses, I'll be looking to a different manufacturer.
