While these speakers look great on paper, they really do leave a lot to be desired.I've been using these monitors in a professional studio environment for about a year now and I have to say, if I had to do it all over again, I would definitely not buy these speakers.
While their frequency response graphs and 3D plots all look great on paper, as well as the price, you really do need to listen to them a LOT before you consider using them for professional mixing.
Pros:
A good start for an entry level studio situation i.e. demos, at home single artist recordings, music without much attention to fidelity (drum n bass, house music)
Cheap.
Powerful.
The high frequency attenuator comes in handy, given the response is not what they say it is on paper.
Cons:
The bass response is unbalanced and muddy at certain frequencies. Listening to bass heavy music at high volume can be fatiguing due to the imbalance in all the lower end frequencies. All of the sudden a certain bass note jumps out at you by more than double of its neighboring frequencies.
Clearly something inside the cabinet is placed wrong, at a certain frequency and volume, something on the left side of my left speaker rattles against the inside of the cabinet. Probably a wiring harness or something like that. This is the kind of quality control details that manufactures cut first to save money. Because this is fixed by hand, not machine.
Overall, I would say if you're considering these monitors for a studio application, save your money. If you want a cheap upgrade from your computer speakers and the music you'll be working with is not a delicate balance between high, mid, mid bass and bass, then these will be fine. But if you're concerned with fidelity at all...move on. These are not for you.
