Lightning DB-5 Basket Disc Golf Basket Review

We purchased the Lightning DB-5 Basket Disc Golf Baskets for our Bible School and have been very pleased with this product. We purchased 9 of them and have been very impressed with the topnotch quality. The instructions were easy to follow for assembling the baskets, although it is easiest if you have two people working on each basket's assembly. We are looking forward to many years of enjoyment from these Disc Baskets! And, by the way, we ended up setting them up permanently by using concrete to cement the main pole in place...the cage part can be removed if you worry about it being stolen during off-season play for those who live in wintery conditions...but, because of the quality we plan on leaving them up year round.

Extreme Metal Products Hard Top for Polaris Ranger 2013 XP900 by EMP. 11894 Review

Instructions are not very clear. It has to be positioned where you want it in relation to side overhang, and front to rear positioning. They call for installing one side first, then the other. After a good deal of thought and review, I decided there would be no easy way to square it on the 'cage if anything was not exact. I installed a back bolt on the first piece, and then one on the other side at the back of the 2nd piece, rather than the front of the first section. With both sides square at the back, the front fell into place. I also installed some rivets between the 2 sections to keep it together better. No reason to ever take it apart, and that was the last thing after installation. Extra time made a better fit, and thought let me get proper overhangs. It is not cabinet making, but I wanted to start out with a pro looking installation, before my 13 year old started trashing it.

Powerline PVKC83X Vertical Knee Raise Chin Dip Machine Review

I decided to take a chance on this because the reviews were ok, and it's cheap. Well...it's a good try, but I think that in order to hit the sweetspot of attractive price and UPS shippable packaging, too many compromises had to be made.

Kind of flimsy: I weight about 190, and this thing flexes noticeably under my weight. I can see the pull bar bend as I put weight on it, and when I do dips, the whole thing gets rocking. At no time does it feel like it's going to tip over, but it definitely flexes in use.

Ergonomic nightmare: I'm 6' tall, and for me, the back pad is way too low. When doing pullups, at full extension, the horizontal arms are touching my armpits- it's too narrow. When I do dips, if I'm not careful, I will hit my head on the pullup bar. I understand now why MOST pullup/dip stations place the pullup bar on the other side of the tower. It takes up more room, but it would make a MUCH more useable apparatus.

I think the photos they use are either photoshopped, or they found the tiniest models they could to make the device appear roomy. It isn't.

$200 isn't a lot of money, so I don't feel 'burned' or ripped off...I just wish now that I had built something myself instead.

Outdoor Research Men's Maximus Jacket (Black, Small) Review

For a 3 Layer GORE-TEX jacket this one is lighter than most. I expected it to be ever so slightly heavier, and was happy to find it wasn't. I would absolutly use this jacket for thru hiking. In my opinion this jacket is just barley light enough to carry an entire thru hike. Which is to say I wouldn't send it home during summer. I'd use it for summer rain gear even on a thru hike. The weight difference between this jacket, and the lighter type Marmot "Precip" jackets is small enough in ounce's that carrying this jacket thru all four seasons in the mountains is something I would do.( the opinion of a semi ultra lite packer).
That being said, Winter! This jacket shines in winter. Hip pockets in a jacket never did much for me i the way of exhausting heat and moisture. Pit zips worked much better, and both used together for me worked pretty well. This jacket has "Torso Flo", which basically mean the pit zips unzip themselves all the way down to the hem (Check the video on OR's store). This unzipping basically flaps the jacket torso wide open to exhaust heat and moisture, which in turn keeps you from getting to wet from sweat, and/or to hot from layering. Does it work? It really does, yes. With the lower torso opened up, even for just for a little while, a lot of unwanted heat can escape, and a lot of moisture can evaporate. If you are in rain, and you can't exhaust enough & moisture from this jacket to be somewhat dry then you should just put on a rainhat and hike with a tee shirt. Outside rainwater will not penetrate this jacket, that is not how you would be wet in this jacket. Overheating and sweating is how you get wet in a jacket like this. If you use the tools this jacket comes with as an advantage, you should stay dry. Again, if you are still wet, then it is to warm of rain showers to wearing a jacket, any jacket.
This jacket is built extremely well, and is as tough as any pro shell out there, especially considering weight. It has 5 pockets, two of which are inside at chest hight (small). The arm cuffs are nice and long, and should cover part of your palm when relaxed with arms down if fit properly. The jacket is a bit crinkly new, but softens up a little. It's a stout piece, and whether or not you've sized up a pro shell or not you will most likely be able to tell right away that this shell means business. Kudos to OR for doing their homework. However it does come at a price. If you plan to wear it out then this jacket is for you, and good luck. If your a weekend hiker budgeting a jacket I don't suggest this jacket. Save your money and go 2 layer, or "Precip" style. You winter hikers, and long distance hikers who want a solid shell, this one is a good one.
I'm giving it 5 stars because they really couldn't have done anything to better this jacket from my observation. I've hiked over 18,000 long distance miles on the AT, which means Iv'e worn a lot of jackets. This one wins, hands down.

the fuel band is cool and trendy, the digital display is very unique and well done (looks like black rubber, but then lights up!) - love the concept of tracking motion and activity, but find this device is limited in what it can figure out - you get little credit for biking (unless you strap it to your shoe) and it under estimates how hard you are working when swimming since it's not looking at pulse - it's also inconsistent from person to person - my dad and i went on a 15 mile bike ride and we have similar height/weight - his registered 1200 points while i earned about 600 points for the same side/side bike ride - my wife's band went on the fritz (screen died) after about 8 weeks - on mine the latch that hold it on wore out after 2 months and now comes apart every hour - the website is pretty good, but was originally missing the key features of being able to share your results with friends (had to have a facebook account - which i don't) - i think they now added that, but i haven't tried yet - i'll try again when they come out with a gen2 that's a little more sophisticated
